Statement of Purpose
Artist Guilds provide members with access to workshops, art appreciation, field trips, demonstrations and a means for exhibiting and selling their work, also, to promote art and goodwill among artists in the Lake Toxaway Estates.
Meeting Place and Time
Meetings will be held the 3rd Thursday of each month May through October 9:30am – 11am at the Methodist Church on Cold Mountain Road.
May 21st, June 18th, July 16th, August 20th, September 17th and October 15th.
The Guild will be limited to the Artists from Lake Toxaway Estates.
It was decided to charge $20.00 for dues payable by the June meeting. This will cover speaker’s fees, transportation and possible judges for shows.
Possible Programs
Some programs were discussed; we do need the input of all potential members. Programs; Artist Demonstrations. Perspective, Framing, Composition, Art History, Drawing, Computer Photo Programs, Field Trips.
We discussed having 2 workshops each summer. Next summer we are looking into a Pastel Workshop in June and an Oil/Watercolor Workshop in August. Possible Artists, Elsie Dresch, Eric Speyer, Vanessa Pendergrass, Sarah Sneeden and Susan Yeager. Workshops will be self-supporting and not part of our dues.
Officers
As a starting point we nominated officers:
President – Bette Coningsby
Treasurer – Donna Parker
Secretary – Karen Phillips
Program Chair – Pat Morris
Art Show Chairman – Judy Termin
Chris Davis and Barbara Catuzzi volunteered to help with programs. We stressed how important it was for all members to participate in organizing programs.
Art Organizations
As a Guild we would like to inform members of the opportunities for education, art organizations and art shows in our area such as: TCArts, Transylvania Arts Guild Appalachian Pastel Society and Western NC Pastel Society. The APS is currently having a show at the Hendersonville Art Center. This involves pastel artists from all over the country.
The group would like to have a weekly painting experience, at the Methodist Church or Plein Air at a designate location. We could designate a day and time and those who would like to paint together could attend.
We would like to have a Newsletter possibly monthly. I will gladly do this if everyone is willing to contribute. This will be a way to keep our members informed of what is going on in our area.
LTCC Newsletter
We will put a notice of our first meeting in the newsletter,
Boys and Girls Club of Brevard
There is a group of us who want to volunteer to give art or craft instruction weekly to the boys and Girls Club. If we had several volunteers we could participate once a month or less. Let me know who is interested.
Art Show 2009

We are looking for some new ideas for show, show attendees have a paint in, also advertise the 15% artists are donating.
Please feel free to email me your ideas of our start. Also if you do not want to receive emails or join, let me know and I will take you off the email list.
Respectfully submitted by,
Karen Phillips
